Situated in the former bed of the River Rhône, Le Clos Saint Michel brings forth its twisted vine stocks from a sea of round, golden pebbles.
The heart and soul of the estate, its old Provençale country house has not aged a day. For nearly a century, it has brought together cultures and inhabitants in a reassuring embrace.
Franck and Olivier Mousset, who represent the fourth generation of winemakers on this land, have a deep sense of the close union between the vineyards and the winery, which they have restored. They can thus pour their spirit, energy and care into each plant, but also each vat and then each barrel, during their daily transformation.
They have successfully combined the natural richness of the soil, traditional skills and the most recent scientific insight.
Loyal to the principles on which the “Appellation Contrôlée” of Châteauneuf-du-Pape was founded in 1937, they wanted to recreate an artisanal low-yield winery. In 2017, the estate applied to convert to Organic Agriculture, marking the start of its transition to the French “Agriculture Biologique” certification.
The wines that they produce, Châteauneuf-du- Pape (Clos Saint Michel), Côtes-du-Rhône (Domaine Guy Mousset) and varietal wines like Caladoc, are premium quality products that have won many awards.
